I have a couple that look like they could be albinos, or at least pink eye dilutes. Not sure what either looks like. They have pink eyes and their markings are a very faded tan/yellow rather than the usual black or grey. They're not solid white like albino rats or mice.

Here's a pic of the alleged albino and a normal at about 1 month of age

that is not albino, that is the pink eye dilute gene. It is common in sweden and europe, although true albino is yet to be documented as far as I have heard, and I have been keeping tabs on natal rats for years

Thanks, that's what I thought it was. There are pics posted here from somebody else claiming a pink eye dilute was albino, so I didn't know for sure, not having seen a true albino natal rat.

I thought it might be like albino snakes which are lacking black pigment but still have yellow or red.

The strange thing is, assuming its a simple recessive, I should be getting 1/4 of my litters as P.E.D. but only got 1 out of 8 and 1 out of 13. Luckily the first was a male and now the new one is a female so I'm going to start a colony for the pink eye dilutes.

You say it isn't documented, but does it even exist?
