A while back I posted a question about my MBK,that was totaly black as a juvenile, but is getting lighter and lighter markings as he gets older. I finaly got a pic.

If it was jet-black before, and is getting those melanin-void patches as it matures, your snake could be like some other types I've seen and become slightly "piebald/calico" as it matures. This is not unheard of but it does happen from time to time, although I can't say I've seen it personally in "MBK's". That would be pretty good for you if it ended up with many of those all over the entire body!, wouldn't it?? I've seen other species of snake that were totally normal, and start speckling for know apparent reason.....anyway, good luck with it.......Doug

Thanks D, this is my first MBK and wasn't too happy when I first saw it starting,and it is spreading. I'll post better pics when I get some a chance.

After answering your post about this, I went into my "snake room" to look at the underside of a "MBK" that I have. I'm raising it up for a friend of mine, and noticed that it has the same light markings, only more of them. I DO KNOW this is very typical, but am not sure of how many actually gain more light spots as they mature......If they do, that IS very strange, as most snakes tend to darken with age!!!..................Doug
