How long and or big should my female get before I breed her??? I do not have a scale so...
Well in order to breed you will need a scale for sure! It doesn't all go by age really at all. They are to be 50g at least to breed. My first female i breed was 90g before i decided to breed. The next was 60 so i still go above 50 cause it seems to small to me. That's just my opinion. They also lay eggs every 4-6 weeks so i like to make sure they are of great weight or they may have problems. It's also better to ahave 3-4 females to 1 males verses 1 male 1 female.
I like to wait to 60 grams, however there are times that a 2 year old will max out at 50 grams and then I'll go ahead and breed her. First clutch can apear 3-6 weeks after breeding, and lay other clutches every 2 weeks or so after. If this is a first year female she could only through one clutch for the season or as many as 12, each female is different.
