dented eggs - why???

warnersister Jan 29, 2007 01:40 PM

i looked at my next pair of eggs, which have been incubating for around 70-75 days, and so far have grown and been healthy, and it looked like someone had pushed their finger in the sides and made an impression (like when a ball kind of loses some of its air), and the next day, the dents were bigger, like the whole tops had collapsed in the middle.

this is the first time anything like this has happened and i have no idea why or what caused it. i'm worried and bummed. are they dead? is it too early to tell? my last 2 pairs of eggs hatched around 80-85 days.

It may be that the humidity is too low. But I think that they dent a day or two befor they hatch.

well, i added a little bit of water to the vermiculite. they still look exactly the same. they're not shriveled up or dried or anything. not moldy either. i'm just waiting...not very hopeful at this point though, i don't know how anything could live in the tiny space that's left in the eggs.
