Are these stripes heritable?

BOtt Jan 29, 2007 05:00 PM

I am hunting around for a future mate for this girl (next season) and am trying to determine the importance I should place on the stripe on her tail. As far as I know, she is not from a "stripe line" litter but is 66% poss het albino.

Has anyone had any success reproducing stripes like this (outside of the stripeline)? is it worth going after a male from the stripeline or one that has a similar stripe on his tail? Or, is the stripe on this snake (and any future offspring) just a product of random chance?

I appreciate any insight that anyone can offer...

Thanks for your time!

IMO, that stripe is beautiful and I'd hope it was heritable. Since she is possible het for Kahl albino and many Kahl albino's have been interbred with the stripe line. I personally would take the chance that she is from the stripe line and get her a BF who also has stripe line.

I would love to breed that stripe out-I'm quite fond of it. It definitely wouldn't hurt to use something from the stripe line, I just don't want to unnecessarily limit my choices.

Thanks for the comments
