Normal Harlequin Color Change

BoidaeAddiction Jan 29, 2007 08:56 PM

My dad and I have a fair share of Hypo Harlequins and have many breedings which involve these hypos this year. Lately we have been very impressed with some normal harlequins we picked up from Brendan. When they were younger they had a gray look to them. We were aware of the potential which harlequins had, having owned some, but having never dealt with normal harlequins we had no idea what to expect. Here is a picture of them as babies; the one in the back is the one I'll post to show the color change. Trey Schneller

Can't wait to see the results from your breedings. Take care

Thanks Paul. Hopefully we'll see some killer color and extreme striping with all our harlequin pairings. We're breeding harlequin to harlequin to combine gene effects. That seems to be the ticket with this bloodline, similarly to that of killer salmontines when the bloodline is strengthened to produce those wicked salmontines. I'll def. share the cool stuff. Trey

Thanks Kathy. Things are going well over here, the breeding season is looking exceptional. I'm busting my tail here at school and look forward to the summer so I can start saving for Daytona or the Tinley Park show. Do yall plan to attend either this year; I hope so. I had a blast last year a daytona talking boas, so I look forward to seeing you and denny again. Tell him I said hello. How is this season going for yall. How are those mandarin bellies turning out. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you guys. Take care, Trey.

Hey Trey,
Glad to hear the season is going well for you guys. Ours is looking pretty good, 3 ovulations so far, with what appears to be a few more on the way.

We will be at Daytona and look forward to seeing you again. Not too sure about Chicago again though. I would like to go, but that one is a little harder for us to make.

The Mandarins are doing great. They have some unbeleivable color. Just when I think they can't possibly get any brighter, I walk into the snake room and get blinded. This picture is a few months old and they have more color than this now. (The light one is one of our keepers we produced in '06.)

Talk to you soon.
Kathy

Those mandarins are looking sweet. Did you get a male or a female, and weren't they supposedly the dominant form. I hope they produce a full litter of boas with that kinda coloration. I can imagine it is a pain driving from florida to tinley when daytona is right around the corner. Congrats on the ovulations.

The normal harlequin is from Tim Magee, not Brendan.
