Question

BlackMax Jan 30, 2007 03:59 PM

My Bearded Dragon is only relieving himself about once
every 2 weeks. He will be a year old in march. He gets
a bath twice a week, sometimes he will drink from a sryinge (sp). His eating has slowed considerably since the colder
weather, will not touch greens and eats 7 to 8 crickets
aday. He is in a 40 gal brdr tank,w/retisun 10.0uvb and heat
lamp. His basking spot is at 102f. He is over 16" long.
Curious if this could be from dehydration as i never see
him drink in his bath and he rarely drinks from the sryringe.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Thanx, was wondering about brumation,as he does not bask as much
lately and spends more time on the cool side of his tank.

All of my Dragons are down. Never happened before. Even the less than one year olds. Just in the last 2 weeks I have lost my last 2.

I have a hide on the warm and one on the cool end. You should too if your Dragon wants to Brumate it should be on the cool end but it is his choice.

I live in NJ and it was unusually warm then turned cold. As soon as it turned cold their eating slowed and they found the cool hides.

This may be the case with yours. But, raise basking temp to 105 or a little above.

That sounds about right. I live in upstate N.Y. I can tweek the cage a bit to get his basking spot up a few degs. Never had a hide on the cool side, makes sense seeing he spending his time over there.

Thanks for your input.

It's the best thing. If the Dragon stays cool they burn very little energy. Therefore, a place for them to hide on the cool side this time of year is important. One of my Dragon's has been down since Nov. 5th. I wake her every 2 weeks give her water (actually 1/2 apple pedialyte) and weigh her. She has lost really nothing in all that time. Just worries me because she was only 4 months old when she started her Brumation and only weighs about 250.
