Is this a prolapse??

waspinator421 Jan 30, 2007 04:43 PM

Hello everyone. It looks like Lucutis may have a prolapse, but since I don't have any prolapse experience I thought I'd ask your opinion. I first noticed it yesterday, but it looked like a very small whitish thing stuck to his vent. I just thought it was leftover poo. But today it is much longer and obviously coming out of one side of his vent. Is this serious? Do I need to get him to the vet? Whatever it is, it looks pretty dried up. Gosh, I feel bad that I may not have done something right and it caused this.

It could be a seminal plug.

A prolapse starts of looking quite pink and moist. It can go necrotic if it doesn't go back in on its own and becomes necrotic.

This shows a hemipene prolapse...

Intestinal prolapses are usually quite bulgy and pink. Sorry I can't describe it better.

Oh my... little Lucutis is becoming a Full Grown Man! It totally looks like a sperm plug to me!! I've seen many! If it seems really bothersome to him, just give him a nice long warm shower and a rough branch to drag his butt on! Trust me.. I've seen Stitch do it more times then I can count. I took him to the vet the first time I seen him get one and she took a q-tip and stuck it up his thingy and pulled the plug out... He looked very upset. SOOO, now we just do the shower thing and you should see it on the bottom of his cage or stuck to a branch in a few days...

WHEW!!!! Thanks feeniee!!! I was pretty worried about it. Ahhh... my little guy is growing up. Man, I've been so busy today... but if it's still there tomorrow, I'll put him in the shower. Thanks so much... what a relief!
