from the DR

Over all my pictures suck. I have a few that turned out. History- I went to the DR with the Indy Zoo to catch as many cornuta and ricords as time permitted. It turns out there is very little known about both species. Indy Zoo and the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, which was also with us, want among other things to get a genetic baseline and blood work to help figure out the history and for the zoo what is a healthy animal in the wild. This is very general but you get the idea. When I got there I went to ZooDom which is the zoo in Santo Domingo. These are picture of captives in their display. More to come...

First one is a female at the park on the shore of the lake. she was in the shade. We caught about 8 there. Its like fish in a barrel they are everywhere, all sizes.
#2- what turned out to be a huge female on Isla Cabritos. They are never far from their burrows. she was great fun to catch
#3- The 1st ricord we saw, also on Cabritos, and I took the picture in a hurry not knowing if I would see any more. This female dove for her den just as I shot. We later trapped her. They are very shy!
More coming...
