Cuttlebone news flash

StephF Jan 30, 2007 08:11 PM

Thanks to everyone who recommened sources of bulk cuttlebone.

I decided to take the plunge and order from a company in CA that was recommended by nobody at all, but had the lowest price for a 5lb box ($16 and change)that I could find. The total cost, including shipping, is comparable to some of the recommended sites' prices that did NOT include shipping.

We'll see how quickly it ships etc. If they pass muster, I'll recommend them to anyone who is interested.

That ends tonight's broadcast. Bananas over and out.
Cheers

Good homework, Steph! Can you share the name & info?

I'll feel more confident about recommending (or not) once the package arrives. I'll wait and see.

You know how it is...if something is inexpensive but then takes forever to be shipped and arrives shattered due to poor packaging, it isn't necessarily worth the hassle.

I have cockatiels and keets so am always buying in bulk.
I did see some online for less, but I couldn't get their sites
to work. When you get your order let us know

This is my lastest addition we got her in Oct. She was being mistreated and was rather grumpy, so I named her
Alley Cat lol
She is now sweet as punch, finger trained and saying
pretty bird

The group photo is Kerby, Ellie and Sunny.....

They're adorable! I think for all the hoopla around macaws, cockatoos, and amazons, 'tiels have to be the very best bird to own, ever!

I lost my first one, a cinnamon pearl pied, after 15 years. The pain was too much, so I didn't have any birds for 2 years. The 'tiels I have now are whiteface, because I did not want them to look like my Canela with their orange cheeks, and yellow
feathers...

BTW, they've been going in the nest already...

ahhh they're adorable! We lost our 'tiel at age 18 in 2001. I said I will not have another bird unless we catch one in the backyard. So in 2004, we did LOL

She was a maverick so we named her Brett then had a lovebird hiding in a Christmas tree.. can't sing that here. lol

Hehe... Sneaker, with a black face...

Oh, I missed Canela's sounds too much. I had to have a cockatiel again, but it coulf not look like her.

We had a lovebird too... Nasty little thing hated me, only liked men. They can be feisty.

OHHHH! What a sweet shot!
That would make a great Christmas card.
I did that once with Kerby, they love landing on the
Christmas trees, cracks me up.

Awwww so sorry Wanda, its always so hard to lose our babies.
I lost Ellie, this summer, just broke my heart
I have to agree, I think the tiels are awesome, by
far my favorite, I love their singing too

Alley the one I just took in Oct, had her first clutch last
week too, they were not fertile, but I am leaving them in there
for a bit like the vet recomended. They say if you take them out
they will just keep laying more. What do you do?
Thanks~Nikki

This is Nube -Spanish for "cloud", the male. The female is a whiteface pearl.
As you can see, they face a very sunny window in the living room, facing a main road. I don't take them out into the yard.. too risky

Oh very pretty! Maybe while we are building the outside
turtle pens, I can talk hubby into making an aviary too
I move mine next to the windows in the summer too, but where
it is so cold here, in the corner they go till spring.

I want an aviary too but after the tortoise house was built.. well that kind of got pushed aside.

I want to do a Christmas card like Lisa showed us! We could have pics of all the box turtles in it too.

I really want an aviary too, I am working on the hubby
batting the ol eyes and everything...we will see lol
And that would be a cute card! Think they would let you put a
little santa hat on them?
