We lost our diamond python, Dotty, last night. We had been cooling her, and she showed no signs of mouth rot, respiritory infection of any other bacterial disease. We checked on her yesterday afternoon and she was active in the cold and showing what we now know were mild neurological symptoms (very mild tremor when body extended). We thought it a good idea to take her out of brumation and put her back in her normal cage, but she continued to be overly active. At two o'clock this morning she suffered a seizure and died. We are very upset, as she was definately one of our favourite snakes. We are also worried about others in our collection, as they are mostly boas and pythons. What happened doesn't sound like the normal course of IBD- but what do you think? Any other advice/ideas about what could have happened. Feel bad aout cooling her now-but was doing it to avoid 'Diamond python Syndrome' and associated neurological problems. I'm not sure we could have 'won' either way.
We'd be grateful if anyone could give me any advice as to what caused Dotty's death.
Thanks
Jo
