What does it mean if you try to pop a snake and you get sperm plugs but no hemi-penes? Am I doing it wrong? Did he loose them? Can you get a plug from a snake that has lost its junk?

Why pop when u already know the sex?

Since it has plugs, i'd say its larger male, and popping is harder, probing should be done there.
But like i said, you know the sex now.

Popping is most effective with young animals. Their muscles are not as developed and therefore easily popped. Older animals (have stronger muscle tone) are more difficult and usually require different methods, like probing, for sexing. As for checking for damage, you might need a vet and or a really good ultrasound machine to actually check that.

Hi ! If I may add to that also when popping a older snake you need to really work to relax them to make popping easier and as to not injure them and if you are not familiar with doing it you shouldn’t do it without supervision . Good luck David
