What's the SMALLEST Central American

bcijoe Feb 01, 2007 08:04 AM

MALE you have that is a PROVEN BREEDER???

I think now that we are moving into the age of the dwarfs, we will see new and exciting things out there, inccluding new practices and behavior we may have thought to be non-existant or even dangerous.

I know Gus has successfully bred female Mexican Boas at about the 3' range...

This season I have several male Central American Boas that are COURTING/BREEDING HEAVILY at 30", 24", even less!!!

What's your take on this?

I have female centrals that are 2' or so, but 2 years +...
They are sexually mature...
Do you think they will produce a healthy/viable litter?

Would love to hear your stories.. both successes and failures... you don't learn much from success... you learn from failure.

This little male is all of 2' long and he's been courting this 5'+ Leopard gal for 2-3 weeks now! More agressive than almost any other snake in the house!

Here's a pair of Boas that are 2 1/2 years old and LESS than 2 feet long... what to do... lol
(for you conservative folks, NOTHING would be stopping them from breeding in nature right now!)

male is that 04 reverse stripe nicaraguan male that I bought from you a few years ago. He reached 36 inches nearly a year ago and hasn't gotten any bigger. I just don't have any females that are ready to breed yet...darnit!

My Bluefield's male is 32 inches long and still growing but the females that I just picked up from Ron are only about 24 inches.

Bluefield's are all under 28-26" .. lol.. tiny guys, so bright and variable with the color!!

Gotta love the Dwarfs!

Take care Amie!

I just picked up a 1.2 trio of the Bluefields from Ron. They are all around 24" currently and are right at 18 months old. The male of course is sexually mature but I don't plan on breeding them until the 2008 season just to give the girls plenty of time to mature.
