gravid girls not having a POS?????

NUCCIZ_BOAS Feb 01, 2007 05:31 PM

Anybody know how/why this happens? I had an argentine female last year, all the steps were textbook. Courting, followed by copulation, pre-ovulation swell, ovulation, basking in the hot spot. everything.... However she never had a post ovulation shed, yet delivered 33 live, healthy babies 128 days after ovulation.

This year, I have 2 more females are are looking to follow the same path. Both have been bred since early october, pre-ovulation swells in both of them has been noticed for 2 months and neither are showing signs of going into a shed cycle anytime soon. and neither male is interesting in going near them. However, I could just be jumping the gun because I haven't noticed a "swallow the football" ovulation in either of them, although one came close. I think it may have just been 1 of the ovaries in a small ovulation, perhaps still waiting on the other.

thoughts/ideas?

that dont believe in the post ov. shed. I HATE when they dont have it.... it makes me wonder if they're really gravid for a while... no idea why some do and some dont.

I hate when they dont. Unless you see a clear, full blown ovulation, it's virtually impossible to determine whether or not she is gravid, (minus an ultrasound) or predict a due-date. Just have to wait it out I guess.

Thats it... the waiting game. I find myself leaving the males in with those females extra long for fear Ive missed something! Hope it pans for you, Dan
