My C. Similis 1 year later..

meric Feb 01, 2007 07:18 PM

Well it's been about a year since I built my new cage for my adopted C. Similis that his previous owner had no idea what to do for it. He is about 3 or 4 years old, hard for me to tell.

Here is what he looked like when I first put him in his new cage after I had him for about 6 months nursing him back from the brink literally. The rock he is on is 35" long and about 10" wide. It is the same rock in both pictures and in the same place in the tank. The rock his tail is on is another 24" long.

This is a picture of him from tonight

And this is what I got for my troubles

Whe he bit me, I was wishing they were anyone else's fingers other than mine

That is a big C. Similis, what have you been feeding that thing?

It was a wild caught. He was sold shortly after. I would never let something that big bite BTW.

nasty bite. but dont give up! these guys are tameable. I have one about the same size. It took me a year of gentle coaxing, but Nacho (his name is Nacho)is puppy dog tame. They are devils at first but with time and effort c. simils can become wonderful pets.

I believe he is a wonderfull pet. Just not a touchy feely pet

He only hates me. He won't even hiss or run from the kids or my wife. I think he has terrible memories of when I had to force feed him because he was so close to dying when I got him.

He had MBD and had 2 broken legs. I never took any pictures of when he was really bad off. I think he is around 3 - 4 and I've had hime for just over 1.5 years.

Hopefully he will come around.

He looks awesome now. Great job rehabing him!

He looks very healthy. I had a feeling one of those pictures would contain human blood!
