stunning prey...

pythonsmile Feb 01, 2007 10:42 PM

Does anybody else feel absolutely horrible about stunning prey? i am usually against it and feed them live, to let the snakes do as they were intended to do. Today i had a particularly feisty rat that was a little too big for my dwarf retic, i didnt want it to end up injuring my snake, so i tried stunning it and my heart dropped... i felt terrible doing that to the rat... does anybody else feel that way about stunning prey...?

P.S. Guess i just had to get that off my just...

you can put the rat in a pillow case and spin it really good for about 30 sec... this will most likely make the rat pass out or get really really dizzy... toss in cage and dinner is served.

That sounds more savage than giving it a quick bonk on the head. I'm just picturing Braveheart swinging a battle-axe over his head for 30 seconds straight. Just a weird visual. Whatever works,I guess.

the centrifucal force would make the rat pass out in seconds... it wouldnt feel any pain... not like the pain it would feel from getting its head bashed in.

just my opinion... i actually use a homemade CO2 chanber to put down my feeders.
