T5 HO uvb bulbs?

kurpak Feb 02, 2007 05:47 PM

Does anyone know of any T5 high output bulbs that are available
that output uvb? Most t5 bulbs are marketed as "no uvb"
I just got a new grow light (6 bulb HO fluorescent) to brighten up my chameleon room, these lights are AWESome really bright (30,000 lumens.) Can't seem to find any uv bulbs for it though

I use T5 HO bulbs for my caudiciform plants in winter, but as plants don't rely on UVB I don't think there are bulbs that produce UVB in the right part of the spectrum. You'd have to check with the manufacturer of the bulbs. Actually, I don't know if a cham would like the intense light close up anyway. Might be hard on their eyes.

I have the fixture mounted on the ceiling, so the lizards don't get all that close to it. Up here in seattle the winters are very dark, I'm trying to get better light quality in the chameleon room. They seem to like it...(i'm using some crazy daylight bulbs at 96 cri, I definatley feel better when I'm in there!)
I was just hoping to add a tube or two that put out some form of uvb. right now I have uvb spots, and hanging reptisuns all over the place
