Jaxx are a little more difficult to maintain than veils b/c they need a higher overall humidity and a lower temperature. Jax are montaine chameleons, not savannah specimens like the veils. Theyre more fragile, though captive bred ones are FAIRLY hardy. The trick with jaxx is getting the humidity up to 80 - 90 % daily. It can drop a bit between mistings, but it shouldnt really be less than 70% consistently.
I didnt have any major problems keeping mine, but my male died unexpectedly three weeks after i got him and we were never able to determine the cause of death. I'm thinking he was heavily parasitized and just couldnt deal with the stress of moving into a different environment.
Keep doing your research, im sure other people will chime in.

sorry for posting on the wrong thread the one i planned on posting on must have been deleted by the forum moderator while i was typing.
The biggest hurdle is being able to create the high humidity/low temp. It's a lot easier to heat an area up to a temperature that you need, than cooling it down. Air conditioners remove the moisture from the air, and lower your humidity.
It IS possible to create any environment that you need. The setups get more complex/costly the more you have to change the environment.
I live in Ohio.. During the summer, my second floor room is in the 80's during the day, and low 70's at night. (I keep my veileds in this room). My basement is 60 all the time. (I keep my Jacksons there)
If you live in an area that gets really hot, you may have to keep the area pretty chilled for montane species and fight the humidity with an air conditioner. Not saying that you can't do it..it just takes more creativity/expense.
Hope this helps.
Correction: You have to fight an air conditioner to keep the humidity up.
In my other post, it sounded as though I was suggesting using the air conditioner to maintain humidity.
thanks. i need to reconsider getting a jacksons then. im already paying a lot for my vieled.
