Humid Hide

karamel Feb 02, 2007 09:27 PM

Good day!
I know there are a lot of substrates to use for the humid hide. Was curious to see what you all use and how it works out. Also, is there a way to make my humid hides rough on the inside for when my leo's are shedding? Thanks for any advice or input.

What I like to use is the green peat moss. I've found It holds the humidity a little better then paper towels, but both work just fine.
As for the hut it's self, I use what ever small plastic food storage container I can get Butter/margarin, sour cream, deli cups, ect. The plastic again helps the humidity last longer, there easy to clean, and it's also eco friendly to reuse what could be garbage.
Usually they don't need any help with there sheds, they'll get it themselves and eat it.

It's weird, because my leo never used to go in his humid hide, then I bought some sphagnum moss (or peat moss I think it's called in US) and put it in, and he spends all day in it! He looks soooo happy! Too cute! He is in the process of shedding so maybe thats the main reason, but its still a releif as he NEVER went in his humid hide before! yay
