Anyone know the genetics of the CAMO (Super Chocolate) and Chocolate Ball pythons BHB produced?
Are they the same thing as the Sable and Super Sable?

Good question! I’ll do the best to give you my opinion. First, there’s a Super Chocolate and then there is a Camo, two different mutations. The Super Chocolate is the dominant (super) form of the Chocolate. The Camo is the super chocolate with the Pinstripe gene too. “Super chocolate Pinstripe”. The Camo is one of my favorite Ball Pythons in my collection. When we first produced it we really didn’t know the genetics because we hadn’t ever produced just a Super Chocolate, but after breeding the project for a couple more years we have figured it out.
As for them being Sables?? Well, I have a Sable and they are very similar, but different too. But as we all know there’s a lot of polymorphism in these Ball Pythons. So although my thoughts are they are different, until we breed a Sable to a Pinstripe and see what comes out I really can’t say for sure. If we breed a Sable to a Pinstripe and get Chocolate Pins, then we have our answer. I’ll be working on this cross this year I wouldn’t be surprised if someone else is also.
I know I didn’t really clear it all up, I think we have to work the project a little more before we can say with any certainty. Thanks for asking, Brian (BHB)
