Breeding tips

Bridog Feb 04, 2007 09:18 AM

I have a nice healthy mature female corn, that I would like to try to mate to my male grey rat snake. I did not brumate either of them, as is recommended but I still want to try. The female is just a couple inches longer than the young male 36 inches or so. she is a heavy, thick bodied girl, while the male is still slender, should I make sure she has eaten well prior to introduction to the male? and just when do I try this, any tips would be appreciated, thanks Brian

basically just make sure that both are well fed and introduce them after the females next shed. it may or may not take place since you are hybridizing. brumation does not matter with corns but im unsure on the specifics of other rats, they probaly dont need brumated either. i say go ahead and try it and see. the worst that could happenn is you dont get eggs.
