A Nice Potentially Gravid Female

RyanHomsey Feb 04, 2007 09:35 PM

She's a 1999 model. I pulled her out to clean her extremely messy cage, it was overdue. I didnt want to disturb them breeding. She and my 2003 possible super salmon have been going at it non stop for about 2 months now. I witnessed some sort of swelling followed by a shed, the shed didnt seem like a long POS type shed but who knows. Her swelling is minimal, although it looks like there could be some. She doesnt really have that gravid-like darkening and she hasnt really been staying in obvious heat conservation positions. So, I am somewhat skeptical about her being gravid. Never know though. The salmon is in shed right now and has been avoiding her since she shed. I'm going to feed him tomorrow and put him back in after the shed.

This shot is from about a month ago, some swelling visible... ovulation? Dunno.

Here she is today

Placed her back in her freshly cleaned cage. Notice the arabesque curled up in a heat conservation position (on hot side) below her . Coral sunglow is above her, fixing to shed. Pics tomorrow maybe of her.

if I remember correctly, you are using an artificial light cycle, right? I am also. Have you ever wondered if a natural light cycle wouldn't be better? I often wonder if the folks who use the sun, have better luck making Boas.

Best of luck!
That female is freakin' awesome!

I have a few large windows open that get good sunlight all day, in addition to that I have a timed light that I try to correlate with sunrise/sunset.

I've had seemingly good success this year. Too early to say but, 3/4 look very much gravid. The 4th is the 99 normal from the original post.
