Spring time

JOYride Feb 05, 2007 11:26 AM

My collareds are waking up. So it was time to prepare their new old home.

Here are few pictures of the terrarium and comments are welcome:

Right half is warmer than left one.

Hot-spot.

Cooler left half.

Here is a water dish and a rock under which is a cave (secure).

I really like the cage and I think the collareds will as well.

Are those rock walls real?? or are they the new hard foam types??

Otherwise the cage looks great, realistic as well, lot's of fun to be had in that cage.

Hi!

Al the stones are real, collected by the river here and cemented to the walls.

Holy Crap! Thats a cage to aspire to! Its incredible! Are they brumating in there???

Are they OK with the cactus and the gravel? I mean, will they get hurt? I wouldn't think so, but I'd sure love to do that with my own cage!

They were brumating in the smaller box in the basement. Thic cage is too heavy to transfer (around 100 kilos).
The gravel is ok, and actualy there aren't any cactuses inside. Only suculents with no torns. So there is no danger to the animal. The only danger is for the plants, because towards the end of the each year they are all broken

Thanks for the info. I showed my wife a picture and she liked it so much that I've been looking to dress up my terrarium. I have been talking with a buddy at work about this stuff...he just got a bearded dragon. Today, he went to a local brick store half a block from our work and bought some rocks. Clued me into them as a source. 25 cents a pound for slabs of slate. I'm thinking they can probably be stood up on end and glued against the back wall of the terrarium. The glue, and the pressure from the sand against it will act to keep them from falling over. Looks like a trip to Lowes tonight!

Here are detailed pictures about how I made the terrarium last year.
