plecos safe?

Depends on the turtle I suppose. I'd try to get the biggest pleco I could find, they're armored but I don't think their skin would stand up to the YBS's jaws. Better to get a big one, so the slider doesn't view it as food.

Definately get a big one. I had a Pleco with my RES, Soup, for about 10 mos. They were very friendly, Soup would let the Pleco feed off her shell. The pleco grew, Soup grew. When Soup got big enough, she ate the whole dang thing. That would be one boney meal.
