Update on baby crickets

mobius Feb 05, 2007 05:59 PM

Well, just in case anyone was wondering- it takes approximately 2.5 hrs to remove 4 dozen miniscule, bouncing, not wanting to be caught baby crickets from a huge tank.
Ya know, just in case y'all were wondering......
*grin*
Thanks again everyone for your help.

easier way would be just take that substrate and move into a new bin to raise the crickets, then replace it for your dragons, haha but thats just me. good luck with breeding crickets they are a pain. roaches are much easier to breed

Years have made me a professional cricket catcher. I use the tube from a kricket keeper cage and if you direct them towards it they will often readily jump inside.

I never figure it's worth having a cricket colony. The maintenance is a hastle. Crickets are very dirty and smell so unless you can keep them outside you better get used to catching them to move them to clean quarters at least every 2 weeks. I just had to catch about 900 to move to a clean tank since all my dragons are sleeping and not eating. lol.

Yeah, I don't think I'm going to try and have a cricket colony...I just wanted to remove them from the tank to keep my beardie safe!
