04 BRB question about feeding?

Z_G_Reptiles Feb 05, 2007 08:12 PM

Hi, i have an early 04 male BRB that decided to go off feed about 8 weeks ago, he doesnt seem to be loosing any weight that i've noticed his temps are 84-85 hot end 82-80 cold end and drops to 82 hot end at night and 80-78 cold end. his humidity is constant at about 80% had a perfect shed last time and has a watch dish big enough to soak in. only thing i could think of it the weather might be having the air thinner or something so he can know it's winter or i also have a female in the same room but is only little over a year old.
i have tried f/t and fresh p/k

any other sugestions or comments on why it wont eat?
thanks
Zack

IMO, he knows it's breeding season. He should be fine to go off feed for a few months. Won't hurt him a bit.

Zack,
..I think Dave is probably right that the snake thinks it is breeding season. Your temperatures seem too high to me. I would drop the temperatures 5 to 10 degrees for a week and see if that makes any difference.

ok, i'll try that in a few weeks im getting him a new cage soon, but that's always been his temps year round but this is the first time he had to share the room with a female and definitly mature enough to breed so i'm hoping thats it, i plan to breed him to her when she's mature enough

here's my male
