need some habitat help

rauko Feb 06, 2007 12:37 AM

I was just given a 5 year old female corn and I've currently got her living in a standard 20 gallon tank. She's about 5 feet long, and I want to move her into a bigger tank, but don't know which I should use - I have a 33 gallon glass tank, and I have a 100 gallon mesh tank that used to house water dragons. It's fairly cold where I live and I have trouble keeping the heat constant in the mesh tank, and I'm not sure if a corn would make use of the fact that most of the size is vertical (it's 30x16" at the base and 48" tall). Would I be better off to put her in the 33 (which is 36x16"? Or should I attempt to work out something for the mesh tank? Any help is appreciated.

would probably be a bad idea for several reasons. The snake could do a nose rub on the screen. As you already found out, they are hard to keep any kind of warm temperature in. It is challenging to maintain a good humidity level, also. It might be hard to clean up the defecations, and you know that they always go in the most inconvenient spot.

I would vote for the glass tank, but that is only my opinion.
