Changing Bedding: How Often?

I have a single thayeri (about 3 months old) in a ten gallon enclosure. I spot clean whenever she goes to the bathroom, and immediately wash any rocks/caves she may poop on. I was wondering how often I should change the entire bedding and wash out the tank. I was thinking every 6 weeks, but someone told me every three months.

I usually spot clean the aspen then replace the aspen, and clean the tank every forth, or fifth feeding.
