Jungle vs Aberrant

shedthegear Feb 06, 2007 12:41 PM

Could someone please explain to me what the difference is between a Jungle Boa and simply a boa with an Aberrant pattern.

It's my understanding that the Jungle Boa was spawned from a Boa in Sweden with an Aberrant pattern. This aberrant pattern is apparently a genetic trait that can be passed on. Why is this different from an Aberrant or striped boa that can genetically pass on this trait.

Is there a specific pattern to look for in Jungles?

If so, how does this pattern differ from aberrant patterned boas?

Does a Jungle have to come from this 'Swedish' line?

I see a lot of "Jungle" boas posted and I honestly can't see the difference between those posted and a boa with an aberrant pattern. The big difference seems to be the price, with most Jungles selling in the thousands of dollars.

Please post pics of Jungles vs Aberrant patterned boas if you have them.

if you breed two aberrants together typically you get a lot of aberrant babies some more aberrant than others.

If you breed two jungles together you get normals jungles and most importantly super jungles. Which are unmistakable if I may say so myself does that helps.

I to notice jungles for sale in the classifieds for 3-4k but they look normal to say the least. I don't have any but aberrant is anything which deviates from the norm. A snake that displays an abberant pattern has no guarantee that the pattern is genetically inheritable. I think the good jungles have aberrant dorsal striping and interconnected saddles that look like chain links sometimes. Here is a link to Jeremy Stone's jungle and look at his, nothing like the ones in the classifieds but you have to look at one (if you buy) and more importantly have to buy it so I would go with a reputable breeder whose origins are known. Here is an example of a jungle and his offspring. 75% of the litter had the striping. The aberant one has differnt color and only a few babies of his showed some his pattern.

Here's a PERFECT EXAMPLE.

People pay high dollar for the Jungles because the Jungles have better Brighter Color and Crisp Pattern.

The Lighter Color and Crisp Pattern are genetically linked to the Jungle Gene. The Jungles not only enhances everything it is bred too,it also cleans up the speckling. Not all but most of the Speckling is cleaned up by the Jungle Gene.

You can see very clearly that most Abberent Boa's Pattern are smudged and just dragged across with no structure.

Whereas the Jungles chain pattern are sometimes so Crisp it is as if someone has just painted it on with a fine point pen or brush.

Hope this helps.

This is a Aberrant Dh Snow but Ive seen Jungles people sell just like him. I would agree buy from a well known breeder for a boa like that.
