I had not seen the ad on that Striped Hypo. From the link in your post I jumped over to the ad and was blown away. That female is stunning. I discussed it with Tom over at Herps unlimited and he sent me a couple more pics. OMG she is out of this world. I decided I had to have her. I also decided to ask about an extended package deal, that's right, I bought em all. Babies AND mom. Total of 5.4 , a little male heavy but whatever.

Here are the pics Tom sent me, reprinted with Tom's permission.

These first three are from the ad:

And two more Pics Tom took for me, the second one will blow you away!!!!

Jamie, I owe you one buddy!

Dave you buy more snakes in a year than most people have in their collection and that makes me jealous. I really want to see some pics of the parents when you get them too. What year were the parents from? And it looks like you may have another rack or two to build in a couple years. I wonder why ks erased the post too or whatever cuz it was only on the forum for maybe 15 minutes that I noticed?

I usually don't buy so many but I've just seen so many I had to have. There's one easy way to fix your jelousy.....buy more yourself!!

The full back story is the mom is a fresh import (from surinam?). She came in already gravid so dad is maybe still out there sowing his wild seed? Tom at Herps limited ended up with the gravid female, normal looking but Tom says she looks great. When the litter dropped there was this little gem mixed in, A striped hypo. So, mom must be het and so must have dad. The 1/8 hypo is only one baby off of statistical outcome so quite normal. The litter was 5.3 so there are 5.2 posible (66%) hets, 0.1 hypo and 0.1 adult het for hypo in the whole group.

I'm sure the thread was pulled because it referred to an ad, that's against the rules. Sure glad I saw it before it was pulled. It was up there for at least an hour or so.

I actually have LOTS of unused caging, Last summer I bought an entire cage collection, lots of racks and most are empty at this time. What I really need is room to set them up. Thinking about making a second herp room iun the garage. Would have to be well insulated and air conditioned in the summer though.

Dave,
...This is too funny. I told Tom that I would point the snake out to people who might be interested. You and Mike both had ads posted along about the same time it was posted so I thought both of you must have seen it. I did call Bryan H and leave a meassage about it.
Jeff

I relist my ad so unless I go in to check it, I don't actually see the ads. Speaking of which....time to relist again.

IMO as a breeder I feel I need to be ready to purchase animals on a snap decision. This and the Anery's from Brian Sharp are prime examples. Both will be 20/20 in hindsight and for now IMO are great opportunities. When you break down the contents of this deal:

0.1 adult het hypo
0.1 stunning striped hypo neonate
5.2 66% het hypo neonates
(all of which are unrelated to current stock)

I am VERY happy with the price I paid. Will have them soon and will post pics of all of them.

I could see both Mike and Bryan being interested in her, too bad for them, I scored them all.

For future reference, I'm always interested in something different, please let me know if you see anything I might be interested in. Worse case, I don't like or want it, best case, I love it and owe you one. Now, how to pay back Jamie......

may be due to suboptimal temps during shipping, the hypo gene would not be effected. so it is definately a hypo, but that stripe may not be genetic in nature, only time will tell. It is not uncommon for such anomalies to crop up in imported gravid females. Still a gem regardless.

Hey Frank, Thanks for that input, it had already crossed my mind. But like you said, the hypo genes are there and well worth it since they are not directly related to anything currently in captivity. Talk about your outcrossed animal!!

I still have hopes that the stripe could be genetic but even if not, still a looker I'm proud to have and will be posting pics of her in detail soon after I get her settled in.

BTW, the mom will be my first WC animal, hope she doesn't give me too much trouble. I'm thinking a fecal exam or three is definately in order!!

I feel like a kid on Christmas morning!

Like I said still a gem and I doubt the female will give you any trouble. The good thing about gravid import's is they usually are very hungry after parturition. The stripe could be genetic who knows, just going by what I have read in the past, plus I am not an optimist, being a pessimist brings less disappointment in the long run and often leaves me pleasently surprised lol. Definitely fresh hypo blood for sure!!!!!

Good luck with them all and post more pic's are they mature and when you get momma!!!

I agree that the stripe might not be genetic in my limited experience. I however tend to be an optimist. I really like the way that stripe looks so I'm hoping for the best I also think that it's a good possibility because of Jeff's striped BRBs along with a dorsal striped BRB at Susquehanna Ectotherms. I know that the odds of these snakes being related in any way is slim but the don't have to be for the stripe on that hypo to be genetic. Again I have limited experience but I just thought I'd share. Like everyone seems to agree Awesome snake and can't wait to see more pics!

order. I know you know this already, but will post for some who may forget the basics. I also recommend a quarantine period in a separate room. You have WAYYYYYYYYYY to many beautiful animals to even play around for a silly freakin second!!!

Yeah, already been planning on what caging to set up in the Q-room. Have the 9 BRB's (8 neos and 1 adult) and 5 boas coming in. Had been down to zero in the Q-room and cleared out caging....ah well, good problem to have!!

I figured so already but posted for people who may overlook the basics and it's possible consequences, especially with imports, I have made my share of mistakes over the last 25 years believe me!!!

and I do mean snag. I think you beat me by about 5 minutes. I was going to call back and put in an offer on mom but I guess I won't do that either.

Oh well, maybe now I'll have to start aquiring some of YOUR bloodlines
