New picture of Mosca

purduecg Feb 06, 2007 05:38 PM

I took this picture of Mosca last night. Compared to the picture of him almost exactly a year ago... not much has changed. LOL. The first one is from a year ago, the second one from yesterday. I think he is thicker around and a bit longer now though.

He's a mighty handsome guy! I'm jealous. We've talked and talked it over, but unless we're willing to sleep in the shed, there's just no room for an Egyptian. I suppose I'll just have to admire yours from afar! Good thing he's cute.

He's a handsome egyptian boy, and to me in the second (newest pic) he looks much more chunky through the middle. Looks like he packed on a few bowls of greens, LOL

Looks really Terrific Elizabeth glad you posted some pics, enjoyed them

Glad you guys enjoyed the pix! The silly lizard eats more salad than *I* can. LOL, and he still looks at me like "Mom, I'm hungry" an hour later.

I do think he is bored though, I am considering drilling some holes in his tank and running tunnels and things around as well as in it. Sort of like hamster trails only Mosca size. I am still trying to work out the details, such as keeping him warm in the tunnels, and being able to find him when I get paranoid.

He is still only mildly social. He will happily eat out of my hand, and will stand on it, etc. I can "pet" him as long as I am feeding him, then he is gone. He does seem to be mellowing out with age though, so in another 3 years I bet he will be as laid back as Dog or Cleo. LOL. I do wish he would settle down enough that I trusted my ability to catch him, then I could let him out in a secured living room to explore. I just feel bad that he is so cooped up, and until I move into a house where he can have his own room, he is just going to have to "deal" with his current housing situation, LOL.

So nice to be saying "hello" to you guys again. I hope that you and your families are all doing very well!!!

He looks like he's suffering so.... *tear*
He's sooo beautiful! He is certainly loved and well cared for, as indicated by the fat tummy and beautiful living space in the pics. I do have a question for you about his temperment. What was he like when you got him, how has he changed over the growth period?
Take care and give him a lil scratch on the head from me.

Actually, I think Mosca's anti-socialness is probably my fault. (Every mother's worst fear). When I first got him he was not opposed to being picked up and touched. I got him as a hatchling, the cutest thing ever! Unfortunately not very long after that, the other Uro I had at the time (in a separate tank of course) became quite ill. I had had Archimedes for over 7 years and though all of Mosca's physical needs were met, all spare time I had was spent with Archie. Archie had some sort of weird bone eating cancer (weirdest X-ray I have every seen) and he did ok for a few months, at which point I had to put him down (sob). It wasn't until after that that Mosca really got the handling he deserved, and he had gotten quite skittish. Since then I have worked with him, but he is more of a gallery reptile. Definitely not like Archie, who like to watched TV with me, LOL. Some of the other people with Egyptians have very different stories. I have noticed that his overall temperament has relaxed as he has gotten older. I do let him out inside of hamster fencing with me sitting with him, and he will run over my legs, etc. and he does run to me when I open his cage doors. He just doesn't like to be pet, and REALLY doesn't like to be picked up.

With that said, I wouldn't trade him for the world!!
