Obviously going into shed. Hope he's not being antagonized just for a photo op...

donv Feb 07, 2007 12:19 AM

.. and he's always mad, as in when I have to clean his enclosure, which seems like a good time to snap a photo. Perhaps you should enlighten me, and everyone else, as to the proper care and emotional treatment of our animals, being the expert that you are.
P.S. This emotionally wrecked animal that you are viewing, which was emaciated when I purchased it at a show, proceeded to take rodents from my fingers as usual, after being, well,
I guess, just plain use and abused.

Arredondo Feb 07, 2007 08:01 PM

Calm down guy. I wasn't implying any "emotional wreckage." The photo as I see it makes the snake look glassy eyed. On re-look I can see it's the lighting. Either way, no need to get your panties in a wad.
Cheers.

I don't wear panties.

Arredondo Feb 07, 2007 08:37 PM

Well, I don't either & that's a good thing for both of us! Whatever, didn't mean to cause you offense. Peace on Earth & goodwill between herpers!

He just shed. For some reason his eyes look real blue. They are darker in real life. His body color in sunlight is largely powder blue, which didn't come out to good in these pics.
With regards to temper, blue beauties have a reputation of being aggressive. I had a captive bred pair that I raised from hatchlings that were pretty tame. But they sure didn't start out that way. I find blue's to be fairly quick to bite. But what's funny about this guy is this truce we have at feeding time. He can act all fired up while being handled and yet quickly will accept frozen thawed rodents from your fingers.
He's one of my favorites, although quite the handfull. Oh, and he's actually over 9', at leat according to serpwidgets measuring.

Please excuse the spelling mistakes, it's late.

Awesome, sounds like a fun snake to keep. He sure does look nice, and he's huge! Thanks for the pics.

My male is over 9' also. The reason his eyes look like that in the pictures is because it's the only time that you get to see like penetrate into the inner eye and see what's there instead of it looking solid black like normal. My taiwans are the same way. And as far as aggression goes, all the ones I've worked with, with exception to one LTC female, were all pretty decent mannered unless startled.

but was forced to sell them due to a move. Do you have any pics of yours and how large are they? I'm eventually going to get hold of a couple.
Don.
