Reduced Pattern Mating

macgano Feb 07, 2007 02:10 PM

The larger is my original reduced pattern female, the smaller is one of her genetic grandsons. She is already showing a very nice gravid glow.

I didnt know reduced pattern was genetic. Are they dom,co-dom, or recessive? I always thought it was a form of line breeding or selective breeding.

The original posters, and mine appear to be simple recessive. I believe Corey Woods' line to be recessive as well.

I would say that any trait that breeds out is a genetic trait. It doesn't necessarily have to be something easily labeled (i.e. rcessive, co-dom, etc.) These are obviously genetic....I'd like to see more of the patterning on the animals pictured. I think Camlon has the most "Super" reduced I've seen but these look close. Be interesting to see what hatches this year....a friend is getting breeding action from the "Super" Tiger Axanthics from my bloodline so time will tell

Purchased 2 identical female reduced patterns in 99. I believe they were captive hatched or bred, but not sure? More photos are in my pet hobbyiest photo album (username macgano).

So far, they seem to be recessive and with any luck the 07 babies will look exactly like mom & dad?

In my group I fairly often produce offspring with a broken eyestripe, such as these...

Notice the eyestripe on the babby on the right

Also on the right

Here is their father, back when he was just a pup...

Is you line producing any of these?

Jolliff Feb 09, 2007 06:39 PM

these are my favorite "Super Tigers" w/ what you call broken eye stripes. It would be nice for everyone to have the same "name" when it comes to these oddities. Broken Eye Stripe worx for me. I've been calling my line of banded animals, Tigers & the bandeds w/ reduced patterning "Super" Tigers. Not quite sure yet how it breeds out (co-dom, recessive, etc.) but it does breed out so I do consider it genetic without the need to label it.

Thank you for the bottom shot. That shows a great visual of what to look for.

Jolliff Feb 09, 2007 07:01 PM

kinda reminds me of a seperate WC bloodline I call "Melts". These are two different animals (sisters).

KMS Feb 09, 2007 08:46 PM

Mike,Those do look alot like my female...Will you breed those females this year? I paired the 2 in the above pic this year to see if I can produce even more reduction in the pattern..It would be great.
