Colorfulcorns Feb 07, 2007 06:45 PM

I was wondering if I could breed my bloodred this year...He's 2 years old and 24 inches long....I know he might be less fertile than my snow but i was going too breed my snow with my blizzard then also let the bloodred try....
Let me know what you think.....

Yes,....he should be quite capable of breeding this year. But if it were me, I would just keep the snow and blizzard together. If they did'nt breed at all, THEN I might entertain the thought of breeding the "bloodred" to one of them to at least make "dbl. hets", but that's your call...............................Doug

Most male corns can successfully breed at 24 inches.

Most males will breed as soon as they ae big enough to show interest in females at all, with the only real problem being, if the female is so much bigger than he, that he is afraid of her.

Other than that....let natue take its course.

Also, if you decide to breed to both males, you'll have no problems in determining paternity, since all non-amel babies will be het for bloodred (episkiastism).

Good luck!
