Already worried---poss. Gravid question

medyssa Feb 07, 2007 08:21 PM

I noticed a rank stench from my office the other day where I keep my snakes, and I found that my female BRB regurged her two small rats that I fed her two days before. I am a bit worried. Could this just be a side-effect of possibly being gravid or something else might be wrong, she has NEVER regurged her food before.
Any help would be great.
Thanks!

Jess,
...I would look for another reason for the regurgitation. Perhaps tmeperature change?

No temp change, we did move, but I didnt feed the snakes a week before and also a week after the move, and we moved just a few blocks away. Could she be stressed over that? Nothing else has changed that I can think of.

Hey Jess, how about her new external surroundings? Is she in a higher traffic area? More susceptable to any movements or noise that were not present in the old location?

Not really much more traffic, she is close to the door but usually a person will only go in the room a couple times a day at most, which was the norm before.
I'm trying not to get too worried, the room was painted about a month and a half before we moved in, and still has the lingering smell, might it be fumes affecting her?

Have you noticed any runny, mucus-Laden stool, or REALLY smelly stool in her cage?

Was she in contact with other snakes during the move?

Her stool has been normal as well, and she has been by herself in her cage for the past few weeks, I did put my male in with her but I took him out at least 3 weeks before we moved.

Hope she's coming around. The only other advice I can offer is that you should wait two weeks to feed her again and then offer a small prey item. From what I've learned from this board that is the best thing to do because of the possible damage that can occur during a regurg.
Best of Luck!
