Weird Nostril

atherisquamigera Feb 07, 2007 11:09 PM

What is this? Is this swelling? she doesn't show any other signs of
respiratory infection (no mucus or open mouth breathing) her other nostril is normal. and everything about her seems healthy

Two thoughts:

Possible nose rub?

Do you feed live?

frozen mice only, and what do you mean by nose rub? are you talking about rubbing her nose on the screen, should i replace her screen? i have never heard or seen her rubbing on the screen but then again she is nocturnal.

Hmmm, yeah, the can/will rub on a screen top. You do have most of it covered to keep in the humidity?

Hello,
Though its hard to tell from your picture, it does look to me like your snake is dry. If its being kept in low humidity conditions the skin will get dry and the nostril area really shows it. I think yours has gotten irritated and swollen from something (maybe rubbing on the screen or burrowing). I bet if you got the humidity up around 80-90% the next shed will show a vastly improved snake. If not I'd take her to a vet.
Good luck,
Paul
