As someone already told you earlier... very small just hatched leos do not look like their adult or even juvi counterparts... in fact, most look like they are in black and white, or even cooler a bright tangerine or something as my little one looked. (Wish I had pics on this computer...)

Although there are stories of rare finds at chain pet stores, since the price of a true snow would be still be quite worth it for a breeder you aren't really going to accidently find one sold to a pet store unless something is wrong with it. And really, even then, if it is something aesthetic most likely the breeder would still be able to sell it for more money elsewhere's given the demand for snow bloodlines.

Chances are, even if it was a snow, that the little one is stressed beyond its limits already and my experiences say never to buy from a chain petstore since we had lovely parasites from the ones we got there... and we were related to the manager.

I have to agree with the others who have posted. It's also hard to tell you for sure with out seeing a picture.
Another thing to keep in mind that if the little guy is in as ill of a state as you described chances are it won't be showing any color and will look black & white due to stress & being sick.

Like I told you before, it's not a snow if it's at PetCo. No breeder is going to sell ANY gecko with Mack genes for $20...
