Cricket "Water" = Jello???

KenRoshak Feb 09, 2007 12:23 AM

My friend uses the Fluker Farm cricket "water", you know the jello-like substance to water her crickets and she was told that you could get away with mixing geletin (as in Jello) and it's pretty much the same thing. Anyone ever hear of this or do this?

I've heard about people wanting to try gelatin, but don't remember ever hearing one way or the other if it worked out or not.

I've never tried jello or even the commercial cricket watering goo, so I can't comment on either, but here's what I use:

Yeah, that seems like a good way to offer water. I'll let my friend know.

Jello is something very different from the cricket water. The cricket water is a co-polymer. Geletin is not. Geletin won't stay solid in room temperature either...hence why when you make jello you have to put it in the refrigerator otherwise it stays liquid and if you take jello and let it sit and warm up on the counter it melts again.
