Interesting story. Seems to be an odd account by the boy though, doesn't seem to be very natural of an anaconda.

I think it might have been a mistranslation sort of thing - if you put "coiled" instead of "crawled" there it makes sense.

that this guy fought this snake for half an hour because A) it doesn't take that long to kill a snake that is preoccupied with killing if you have a knife and B) the boy would have died a lot quicker than that. Either there has been some gross hyperbole here or something isn't right.

Yea, the entire account seems strange to me.

Also, as an English major, I got a great laugh out of your use of the phrase "gross hyperbole". Sometimes I think I'm the only person in the world that uses words such as those! I'll give you an A ! Thanks!

Well I have no idea what a gross hyperbole is but I do think I know what the time seems off. Cause if you were ever in a stuggle like this trying to save your grandson, it may SEEM like a half hour while your fighting a snake. In actuality its like five minutes, which still seems kinda long. But who are we to judge. The only thing we know for sure is there is one dead snake and the kid has stitches.

Yeah, I'm a super nerd My mom thought it would be a good idea to start teaching me how to read at three years of age so now now all my friends poke fun at me and threaten to "beat me with my dictionary"! Laughs on them though because for some odd reason my spelling is atrocious! Oh well, eh? Thanks for the A, too bad it won't bring my GPA up By the way ratstar, hyperbole is just a word nerds like me use in place of "exaggeration" and the use of the word gross is sort of equivalent to "major" or "huge" in this context. Don't feel bad for not knowing that, the way our language is evolving in a few decades words like these will sound like middle english to everyone.

Unfortunate as it seemed back then, in the 5th and 6th grade I had the same teacher. Whenever I acted up in class she would punish me by making me copy out of the dictionary. Now I guess the joke's on her!

Another lesson: In the literary world, thats what we call IRONY!
