Baird's Rat Snake - Val Verde Co TX

Tony D Feb 09, 2007 07:55 AM

I've been working with lines of Val Verde County TX Baird's for years. I find that their ground colors are a bit lighter colored than those of more eastern forms with the interstitial coloring being just as intense. I absolutely love Baird’s rats but the light bluish grey of the more western populations blows me away. This is a yearling female from Bakers Crossing. I can’t wait to see what she looks like as an adult!

She is stunning! Do you have more pics of this locale?

No several years ago I mostly got out of snakes while the wife and I did a little pro creation of our own. My Bairds were on breeder lone but were sadly lost one winter during a power outage. Here is a lower quality pic of one of the older breeders. It doesn't come even close to capturing her coloring.
