Bedding

jdillow Feb 09, 2007 03:07 PM

I was looking through the classifieds and noticed different bedding choices. Not looking for the best bedding because everyone has there opinion. I was just wondering what everyone uses and why.

I'm personally using shredded aspen because it is cheap, easy to clean and looks good.

I like aspen as well and for the same reasons. Unfortunately I have had to switch to news paper and paper towels because my wife is highly allergic to most of the pine varieties and her allergies are so varies that I don't want to do too much experimentation. I tried coconut mulch too at one point and if you have somewhere to let it dry for a day or two it can't be beaten. It looks nice maintains good humidity, smells like the forest and my wife is not allergic to it. I do not however, have a place to let it dry for a day or two soooo...

shredded aspen is fine... as long as it is not pine!

OR SAND, coz that may get in the python too.

I am using shredding paper as a bedding would that be too rough on the eyes if he decides to burrow in it?

Substrate - anything but Cedar and pine (TOXIC TO ALL SNAKES) or Sand (will dry them out, get in their mouths and under scales and cause infection)

Most use Aspen... many use news paper , some use shelf liner
- No Contact Paper -

I use Aspen... Is cheap (I do a full bedding change once a month in 2 40 gal tanks... worth 4 bux a month) ...looks good... and easy to do spot cleaning...
