Emergency! Please help!!

pattigecko Feb 10, 2007 01:05 AM

Hi Everyone, I am desperate here. Tonight I found one of my geckos with a hole in the middle of its tail on the side, and the tip appears to be drying up. I believe it was a cricket attack. I plan to get to the vet hopefully tomorrow. Please, does anyone know what I can do in the meantime? I appreciate your advice very much, thank you.

I've always found for cuts, scrapes, & or bites neosporin works. Apply it with a Q-tip like you would your own cuts. Not to thick though.

If the tails drying up already there's nothing the vet can do besides amputate it. Which the Leo will do on its own anyways. Just clean keep it clean and follow CSHerps advise.

I did put the neosporin on and it looks better. Someone suggested I give my gecko a betadine soak. Should I and if so, how? Also, she is not eating, should I be concerned right now or give her time to heal up? Do you think I need to hydrate her or make give her more or less humidity? Thank you so much!! I don't have any experience with tail loss so any advice will be much appreciated.
