To the best of my knowlege, they don't exist. There's at least one breeder working with striped Miamis - the stripe gene and motley gene have been shown to be interrelated.

The definition of a Miami, like the definition of an Okeetee, is somewhat controversial, which further complicates matters. Since both types are naturally-occuring color phases, the probability of "pure" striped or motley Miami or Okeetee corns is pretty small.

It's the Miami Stripes that are proving difficult to produce. I have 1.2 breeders in my collection and another pair of holdbacks from last year. I don't have pics of the youngen's but here are some links to my adults...

Don S. also has some stunning Miami Motley animals posted in his photo gallery, but the way it is set up, it's hard to link directly to the page. Just scroll the cornsnake morphs and they are under -Motley (Miami Phase)

The run between $100-$150.

'FMM' is too nice. Without question the BEST Miami Striped-Mot I've EVER seen.

I've seen, in person and in photos, THOUSANDS of Corns and that snake eeeeeasily makes my 'Top 10 Ever'.

Is it any wonder your site says 'waiting list full' for her offspring. lol

Congrats on an amazing collection overall.

There are very few corn snakes out there that will make me go "WOW", but the striped (Striped motley?) miami Carol has posted pics before is one of them...Simple amazing :*)

carol Feb 10, 2007 08:32 PM

But also to be pefectly clear, I make no claim they are "Locality" animals. They are Miami"Phase".

Kin, I think it is time to cut down your signature. Like Jimmy once told Big Tom(where is he by the way?), it is hard to find your post. You say one sentence and your signature is a whole page!! lol.
Of course, my signature would be the same if I listed all my animals

I saw Tom yesterday. He still reads these posts (he gave me a "talking to" about my rack building post, as to what the components of melamine are).

Tom is thinking of getting out of the hobby. His female bloodred died and he really likes those bloodreds.

I FINALLY found the South Mountain gallery (I was looking at the pricelist before). Don's Miami motleys, as well as Carols, are fantastic! I did not imagine that they'd look that good.

Could a motley Okeetee be in the future?

Tim

I guess I'm a glutton for punishment and long painful projects. LOL.

I was pleased to inherit this project from Clint Boyer. Here is an Okeetee "Phase" het Motley, and a Motley female from the project.
www.lowbellyreptiles.com/BreedingStockpages/Dash.htm
www.lowbellyreptiles.com/BreedingStockpages/LiveOnly.htm
I got a pretty nice bordered Motley male from these two last year, but most of their offspring were fussy feeders. (It was a father X daughter breeding).

This year I am pairing the female Mot with a killer Okeetee with great color and boders.(I'll have to work on getting his pic uploaded) The male het Motley is going to be bred to a Hurricane Anery Mot that has extremely wide BLACK borders around her little Motley "circles". Both pairings should improve the line in vigor and looks. I'm also growing up a super R.O. to introduce to the line as soon as he's big enough.

Good luck!

I hope you post your results. Yes, I'd imagine that motley Okeetees are a long, drawn out project, but somebody's gotta do it!

That's a beautiful example of "Miami" type "zig-zag".....I wish more people knew about all the different types, and HOW they got their names!.....know what I mean?..............Doug

Now, now, I never said that they didn't exist. I said that "To the best of my knowledge..."

I then implied that it's possible that Miami motleys may be around, due to striped Miamis being in existence.

"Pure" is not a technical term - it's pretty straightforward.

I checked South Mountain's site and did not see (and still do not see) Motley Miamis. I looked in both the motley section and the Miami section. Where are they in the photo gallery?
