Sick Black Rat report

Nokturnel Tom Aug 11, 2003 01:12 AM

I really hope I don't jinx myself here but the surviving snake from the lousy pair I got stuck with seems to be on the mend. It finally ate again and is starting to move about the cage once in a while. Hopefully it will keep this meal down, I never thought I'd say this but I am anxious to see the poop. If it looks any better than the atrocities it has spewed in the past I will be very pleased. Unfortunately I am sour to the whole Black Rat thing now and after I have this snake healed I am going to try and find someone to take it off my hands. I would not even consider this unless the snake is 100% healthy, but regardless of me wanting to part with it, it's good to see it doing better. Keep your fingers crossed. Tom

Good job in getting him back on the mend, Tom. I wouldn't be down on Black Rat snakes, tho, just because of this. From what you've described, it has more to do with the person you got him from than the fact that he's an obsoleta.

The thing is I wanted to produce White Sideds which I have liked for a few years now, and these were supposed to be hets. I find that hard to believe seeing I was ripped off and I just don't want to disappoint myself later on by finally getting eggs and hatching out all normals. The White Sideds were expensive a few years back, and I just don't that kind of cash so I usually buy hets of anything I want to work towards. This really sucks because I am friends with some of the most trusted names in the biz and could've scored something else and not had to deal with all of this, especially watching an animal deteriorate and die within a week. That was terrible. Thanks for writing, I really hope this snake makes it. Tom

Howdy, 1 is doing great, the other 2 still won't eat. I even got some of that Lizard Maker and that hasn't worked as of yet. I have live pinks for them today, would be great of they munch em. ttyl Tom
