please respond, sick savanna

Rydair Feb 10, 2007 10:55 PM

First off, I know, TAKE HIM TO THE VET!!! To bad its almost midnight on a saturday. No vet till Monday at the earliest. I recently adopted a reletivly sickly savanna, took it to the vet, he checked out ok with the exception of a mild eye infection. He's about 2.5 feet and ate a small rat yesterday at about noon. He has been eating regularly since I adopted him. I just noticed hes spitting up fowl smelling mucus. On closer inspection I heard him making burping sounds. Hes very lathargec, usually quite interested in me when I go in his cage. Any ideas? Im verry worried.
Please let me know!

Yes take him to the vet monday. Do you have his cage temps at 78*F minimum cool area day and night w/ basking area surface temp of at least 130*F? On a pure guess, it's a respiratory infection from chronic low temps, but that is a flat out guess. Lizards go downhill really fast w/ illnesses if not corrected quickly. Good luck.

First of all , Savannah,s need it dry and hot .. Sounds like he has Stomatitis or a respiratory infection , get him a basking spot of about 110 degrees ... that is needed in order for his immune sysyten to work...

He could use antibiotics as well but you need your Vet for that.. Oxytetracycline is great for Resp or Stomatitis..

Good Luck
