RE Gopher in the field and Fl laws

vinvstrom Feb 11, 2007 02:06 AM

I witnessed first hand how silly our world is. I was seaching the destruction of state a water retention project and just to the left of the kid in the pile of topsoil and brush was a beatiful Gopher Tortoise trapped in the sticks but not yet mushed they where working on another pile hauling it away. There is a large state park right down the road so I went to ask them to help it. They said no and I could not touch it or move it either under severe penalty of law. What would you do?? Thats gotta be the most foolish set of protection laws ever writen. I heard an Ice age is comming to straghten all this out. I think its good to think of these things as we go about our short time here.

Just because it's the law doesn't mean it's right. Try contacting your local Fish and Game office, they sometimes can send an officer to pick up an animal in a disaster situation.
Good Luck.
