Well, my snake finally shed and I fed him today. Only after I thawed out the mouse I think I squeezed it a bit hard or something and his little intestines prolapsed a bit. But by the time my snake was about halfway down his body just about everything inside of the mouse had squeezed out of his rectum! I actually think my snake ENJOYED this (BLECK!! *GAG* )..but I was a little concerned? For future reference, should I have fed him this mouse??

YEAH- its pretty gross...its usually ok for them to eat...just REALLY MESSY and gross. some snakes enjoy it even more like this... which is nasty but kinda like how some people like their steak rare, medium, or well done.

most of my corns will go CRAZY over the smell/taste of blood or innards. I feed fresh-killed whenever I can, and occasionally the snake's teeth will rip the mouse's skin, and almost immediately you can see little head pop out from the aspen in other tanks, sniffing for the bloody mouse...

F/T pinkies are pretty squishy, and I usually have one or two that I accidentally puncture when I'm feeding with tongs, and the snakes are always more willing to eat them once they've popped.

All I can say is....Eeeeeewwwwww...

That is gross but not as bad as this one story:

I had a breeder female cal king that constricted the thawed rat pup I gave her so hard, that the innards of the rat pup came bursting out and all over her cage, which was filled with aspen bedding as the substrate. The innards were then still attached to the rat pup but just all hanging out. Well, the aspen got stuck all over the hanging bunch of guts, and my female cal king was on her way to engulf the whole rat pup WITH all the stuck-on aspen. If this would have happened, the chance of her having deadly problems with the ingested aspen was very strong.

I was like, " gimme that!! " and then proceeded to play tug of war with her, as I tried to get the rat pup out of her mouth so she wouldn't swallow and ingest all that aspen. Well, after about 20 seconds, I decided on the only thing that made sense to end this thing. I grabbed a pair of scissors and cut the rat pup above the burst open area. This made it to where she retracted and surrounded the half rat pup with all her coils, making it safe to swallow the rest. I about puked my guts out after that, it was so foul!!!!
