i want to chat with FR. Or at least witness a chat session with him as guest. I think that could get very interesting.

I know Daniel Bennett personally and he's a good friend of mine, in fact we've just met a couple of days ago in Manila. Sure it's going to be a golden opportunity to chat with him regarding monitors, particularly V. olivaceus. More power to all guardians of varanids!

Wow, you met him in person?! o_O Did you just see him and recognize him? I saw Jeff Corwin, but that was at a seminar-type thing. If a really met him like that, I'd freak out lol. So, you gonna chat with him?

By the way, does anyone know the exact time and date? It just has a list of people and it says between 2/25 and 3/3 and no times. Thanks!

I received a text message from Daniel just now and he said he also doesn't know the date and time of the chat simply because nobody has ever asked or informed him about it. I hope he'll be informed as soon as possible.

Honestly, I know Daniel Bennett personally. Daniel and I have been good friends since 2004. He would visit Avilon Zoo where I work as Curator of Herpetology if he is not busy with his fieldwork on wild Gray's monitor on Polillo Island. We would talk monitors for hours everytime we get the chance to meet. It's really nice to chat with him, considering his broad knowledge and expereinces with monitors, especially V. olivaceus. I'll phone him later (he is in Manila right now) to ask him to take a look at this forum, and perhaps he could post some messages too.

Many years ago, Daniel came out to Ariz. I took him out to show him how reptiles live in groups and pairs. While we were out, I found this pair of tortoises. That was many years ago.

As with many reptiles, academics somehow think these animals do not pair up. Well, this pair has been together every year, the whole year for many ten years now. I call them Daniels tortosises. I have taken many close friends to see these animals, and I explain how they are Daniels torts.

Recently another pair has taken up residents very close to these.

If you could, copy this pic for daniel, I think of him every time I see these wonderful animals. Thanks

Hi Daniel! Cant wait to talk with you! Are you going to talk with us from Manila?

pinoyhamadryad Feb 26, 2007 03:01 AM

Daniel would be very happy to receive the picture. I'll email it to him and tell him that it was from the good time you had together in Arizona. Thanks, FR!

pinoyhamadryad Feb 26, 2007 03:06 AM
