Just got this female. She is over 5 feet and bigger than any of my corns. Is this a dark anery or any other suggestions?

which one?.........the one is an anery and the other is a black ratsnake.......

the anery isn't too dark.......they vary alot..........

the black is black.......they can vary too..and some have patterns almost like an anery on the sides........in Pa we have ares that have reddish blothces on the sides(some northern counties)

I agree that black one is typical of almost all the blackrat snakes I've seen.

Was it one you caught or did someone give/sell it to you as a corn?

would u be able to tell me were in these northern counties of PA youd be able to find one of them stunning beauties ? ide travel great disitance to find and photograph one of these killer dudes.do you have any pictures of them ?

....LOL...........I'm not sure what county they were from......been a few years since I saw them........some guy brought them to a snake event/ bagging contest thing.......he had a few with alot of rust on them.......I forget ....either center of state like near Clearfield area or north east like Shamokin area............

anyone here know>????

I am pretty sure that is a black rat. Corn snakes do not get that dark.

Based on the overall look I have to agree - she looks to be a black rat - maybe hypomelanistic?

Here's how you can nail it down:

A corn snake will have a spearpoint on the top of its head - a black rat won't.
Both black rats and corns have postocular stripes which run from the eye down the side of the head to the corner of the jaw. On cornsnkes this stripe continues down the neck - on black rats the stripe ends at the corner of the jaw.

If you can post clear pics of the top and side of her head, that would help.
