Humans at risk??

Lizardsmoke Feb 12, 2007 08:29 PM

Just a curious question, But I was wondering if us humans can contract the paristies and worms that beardies might carry. My beardie had pinworms back in september and i gave him some meds for it and he got rid of them 2 months later. So would I have been at risk for contracting something since he had them? Also if I can get them from him, can i give them back to him?

yes you can get worms from 'em (just like we can get 'em from dogs, cats, fleas, misquitos[sp?], etc and what not).THAT'S WHY WASHING IS VERY IMPORTANT!! CROSS CONTANMIATION! And for humans to get tested it pretty much the same fecal or a swab or the anul opening by a doctor. As for giving him your parasites... very slim. You'd have to feed him food that's been eating/growing from your feces, or feed 'em a chuck of your raw flesh or something like that.

Parasites (most) aren't like diseases

Informational side note: about 50% of the world's population has a few parasite living in them and don't know

It's pretty unlikely and I have never heard of it. Salmonella is a more likely risk, but is also unlikely with desert reptiles. Proper hand washing solves all these risks.
